Really people? Are you serious?
Amandla Stenberg, the 13-year-old who plays Rue in The Hunger Games film, has responded to the barrage of racist tweets that came her way from alleged fans of the book series. “As a fan of the books, I feel fortunate to be part of The Hunger Games family,” read her statement to Us Weekly. “It was an amazing experience; I am proud of the film and my performance. I want to thank all of my fans...

Another great book find
So, the Penguin shelves get crazy full - all the time - so once in a while you’ll see people just moving mountains of books out of their offices. But still there are some bookshelves that get ignored for years, like one by a coworker of mine. So today my OCD decided to clean that bookshelf for my coworker. And what awesomeness did I find? A CATWOMAN Poster Book. Jealous? Yeah you are....

Randomly looking on Etsy and I found some Ministry of Magic stationary, as well as official Gryffindor note cards. Loving the little Hogwarts castle on the return address!! Good job, DiagonAlley!

Molly's Cupcakes
Another episode of The Great Cupcake Challenge! For this episode the GCC visited Molly’s Cupcakes, the usual 5-6 of us was up to a full 8 this time around as more peeps were able to make it this time. And more GCCers meant more cupcakes. YUM. Below is just a small portion of what Molly’s has to offer (you can actually make your own cupcakes by picking your base and frosting, but we stuck to the...

The Making of a blockbuster
Interesting article about The Hunger Games and the making of a blockbuster. Favorite passage so far: “They’ll start reading that book out loud in class to the kids, just to tease them with the first few chapters.” Then, “we send out a pre-sale form so all the kids can buy it.” It’s a strategy that’s worked like a charm for many a drug dealer.” [salon]

The Ultimate Movie Geek List
lizgeek: As promised, I made a more comprehensive and better-organized version of the Great Movie Title List.  It contains a total of 500 films, organized into 25 different categories, which make a whole lot more sense to me than the ones I’ve seen before.  For most films with sequels (especially with more than 2 sequels), I have put the name of the film franchise - if you have seen ANY of these...
